Comparing Twins: How to Stop

And why it happens in the first place.

Twins grow side by side. Differences are impossible to miss. Your brain compares automatically — it’s human.

Comparison isn’t judgment. It’s your nervous system trying to make sense of chaos, especially when you’re exhausted.

Persistent comparison can create roles: “easy one,” “difficult one,” “sensitive one.” These labels stick more than we realize.

Notice the thought. Name it. Shift from comparison to observation: “Different pace” instead of “behind.”

Your twins share a birthday — not a personality. Separate them mentally. Let each child be fully themselves.

If something feels off — milestones, tone, engagement — comparison can be a prompt to check in, not panic.
