Twin Night Wakings

When it’s normal… and when it needs attention.

Night Wakings Are Normal Newborns wake every 2–3 hours. Twins just double the noise — not the danger. Most wakings are part of healthy development.

Why Twins Wake Often • Hunger • Short sleep cycles • Different temperaments • Growth spurts • Discomfort (wet diaper, too warm, too cold) Two babies = two sets of needs.

When You Can Let It Go If both babies:  -are gaining weight  -feed well  -are alert during the day  -follow a loose pattern …then the wakings are normal.

When to Pay Attention Call your pediatrician if wakings come with:  -fever  -vomiting  -sudden behavior changes  -persistent, inconsolable crying  These can signal something more than typical newborn sleep.

One Twin Sleeps Worse Totally normal. Different sleep personalities show up early. One may be more sensitive, alert, or harder to settle.

What Helps You Survive -Batch feed when possible  -Keep supplies within reach  -Dim lights + quiet voices  -Rotate night shifts if you can  -Track patterns — they help more than you think
